Yarrow was the first essence Ava ever made, and while that could be a coincidence, it is one of the most loved and sought-out essences both for people immersed in the field and for those brand new to it. There is a mysterious attraction to the umbrella made up of hundreds of white flowers; some say that the shape of the flower head, this plant's signature, points to its shielding properties. Yarrow is used to make one invulnerable.
Prone to taking on emotions or vibrations from the environment, easily drained in confrontational or emotional situations, feeling too sensitive for today's world, prone to nosebleeds or accidents such as cuts and bone fractures.
Yarrow protects against undesirable influences, and can help one feel emotionally stronger and more resilient. For example, it can help prevent feeling drained or upset after an encounter with someone whose energy may be angry, negative, or depressing. For this reason, yarrow is particularly helpful for those who feel they are oversensitive, or who may feel too sensitive for our contemporary civilization or for life in big cities. The essence will not make a sensitive individual cold-blooded or callous, but will help the person avoid taking on negative energies or emotions from others.
Yarrow can be taken on an ongoing basis alone, alongside other essences, or in a custom blend, or some people keep it on hand and only take it as needed before entering an emotionally challenging situation. Holistic health practitioners or psychotherapists can take this essence a few times a day at work to prevent getting drained by taking on their clients' emotions.
Herbalists employ yarrow flower essence (sometimes in conjunction with yarrow in a fresh or dried herb form) for a range of issues with blood and blood clotting, such as frequent nosebleeds in adults and children. This essence is also an indispensable component of the blends Ava creates for growing children if they have issues with bones (bone pain, growing pains), and for anyone who has had a recent accident or frequent accidents involving cuts or bone fractures.
Yarrow essence taken alongside or blended with arnica, comfrey, and angelica flower essences is a universal blend to have on hand for recovery for minor and major accidents, injuries, surgeries, and falls.
Yarrow flower essence is offered by many essence companies and alchemists. While there are vast differences in opinion about the properties of many flowers, experienced flower-essence experts seem to agree in regards to yarrow! A few resources we consulted were Alaskan Essences, books by herbalist Matthew Wood, and the book Flower Power by Anne McIntyre.
