Our sunflowers bloomed with a sunny, summery, "growing and striving" energy at the very end of summer, just as everything else was becoming dry and dormant, making for a fascinating difference in energies.
Lacking confidence, feeling worried, overthinking, difficulty making decisions, fear of success, fear of failure, extended indecision about one's career direction; and on the physical plane, digestive issues, low appetite, postpartum depletion.
Sunflower corresponds to the first and third chakras. It balances the feminine and masculine elements in all of us, adding strength and stability while still supporting flexibility, generosity, and kindness. It is a useful essence during stressful periods when one wants to find a middle ground between assertiveness and yielding, action and patience.
Like many large plants with strong structures, sunflower essence is grounding (some may literally feel more strongly planted on the earth; an incredible feeling). This is an effect of strengthening the first chakra, which is about stability, connectedness to the earth, and feelings of physical safety.
Sunflower is also a fitting essence for enhancing self-confidence in adults and children. Because it strengthens the third chakra, it is also helpful for anyone who struggles with fears of success or failure in their career or schooling.
Sunflower essence is indicated as energy medicine support for spleen/stomach deficiency as defined by Traditional Chinese Medicine, which may manifest as digestive weakness, low appetite, or a tendency toward bloating.
