Bladderwort Flower Essence

Pacific Northwest Essences

Bladderwort Flower Essence

This fascinating carnivorous pond plant floats in water, yet its stem stands erect, perpendicular to the water's surface. The delicate yellow flowers look innocent, but this plant feeds on insect larvae and other tiny animals. The underwater stems contain bladder-like structures that open when little hairs on them sense prey is near and engulf the plant's victims. This essence was handmade by our herbalist, Ava Zhan.

Feelings of victimization, feeling overwhelmed by strong opportunistic or predatory forces, issues around parasites or relentless, chronic microbial infections, feeling consumed by disease.

Emotional and spiritual effects

This plant is small, yet it has profound healing virtues. We use it in our practice in blends to address a range of issues that have to do with parasites or with feeling vulnerable and preyed upon by opportunistic forces, whether diseases or human energies. It is a remedy that works on issues that lie at the connection of the second and third chakras: the second chakra suffers a drain, pulls down at the third chakra, and both of the chakras are in disharmony. Perhaps the relationship-emotional body suffered a trauma at one time and now the third chakra, which normally allows an expression of one's individuality and originality, cannot fully bloom. The root of the problem is usually in family relationships.

Physical plane

We also recommend this flower essence for issues with warts, slow-healing wounds, and chronic diseases that involve dampness (gout, arthritis, especially rheumatoid arthritis, UTIs).

Shake the bottle before each use. Take 3 drops at a time onto the tongue or mixed with water 3–4 times a day, between meals and not with herbs or coffee.

Store away from sun exposure, excessive heat or cold, electronics, and strong scents.

Water, gluten-free brandy (from grapes; a preservative), infusion of wild-grown bladderwort (Utricularia macrorhiza). Alcohol 22% by volume.

Keep out of reach of children. Consult your health care practitioner before using if pregnant or nursing.
