The first spring and summer when Ava had just begun making essences, two wild red poppies bloomed close to each other in a hidden spot among tall grasses. One of them was a big, deep-red flower, with the energy of a grandmother who in her younger years danced flamenco, confident in the wisdom of her age and in her femininity. The second was a beautiful flower but smaller, delicate, innocent, and orange-red—a teenage granddaughter, just entering the world of relationships and as yet unsure of her beauty or her special gifts. The special yet specific messages Ava read from these first two poppies informed how she viewed the red poppy's gifts as a flower essence. These initial readings came true in our practice over and over, with red poppy giving women, but also men, the courage to stand strong and confident and display their uniqueness and flair to the world.
Lacking confidence, wanting more courage to show aspects of ourselves to the world, shy about one's artistic or unique gifts, feeling shaky or weak during difficult times.
The energy of our red poppy is the energy of female fire: sexuality, confidence, wisdom, and boundless creativity. For this reason, it is especially beneficial to women, and can make one feel more grounded, powerful, confident, creative, strong, comfortable in one's femininity, and maybe even a touch flamboyant. It corresponds to the first chakra (stabilizing, grounding, well-rooted) and also to the third chakra (helping our individuality and creativity to shine).
Ava has seen how powerful red poppy can be in her own practice—this is the essence that single-handedly lifted one client from her post-divorce mourning and paralysis more effectively than even psychotherapy (it healed her within maybe a week). There are some essences that are essential to have on hand, waiting in a cabinet when not in use, and this is one of them.
Shake the bottle before each use. Take 3 drops at a time onto the tongue or mixed with water 3–4 times a day, between meals and not with coffee.
Store away from sun exposure, excessive heat or cold, electronics, and strong scents.
Water, gluten-free brandy (from grapes; a preservative), infusion of wild-grown red poppy (Papaver rhoeas). Alcohol 22% by volume.
